ACHSM College Fellow Nick Saville Wood appointed CEO Lakes DHB

Members of the Lakes Branch of New Zealand Institute of Health Management (NZIHM) are celebrating the appointment of branch member and Australasian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM) / NZIHM Fellow Nick Saville-Wood Wood to the position of Chief Executive Lakes DHB in May 2019.

In 2015, members of the media used the Official Information Act to request that Public Hospitals provide data on number on procedures, deaths and complications for individual named surgeons. There is a view that doing this would promote transparency, inform patients’ and funders’ choices, and drive improvement in care and therefore outcomes. There is no question keeping people, the public informed is a positive thing, however, there
are many questions that need to be considered before assuming that this approach would really serve these ends effectively.


NZIHM Lakes Seminar 26 April 2019

Lakes Branch of NZIHM hosted a presentation from Ngaroma (Mala) Grant, CEO of Te Arawa Whanau Ora and Chair of the Lakes Branch of NZIHM, on Whanau Ora - the Te Arawa Whanau Ora story. It is 10 years since the introduction of this unique Te Ao Maori approach to working alongside families in an holistic manner.

The ACHSM Board determined to undertake a comprehensive review of the IHF Global Directory including a gap analysis against recent work in the region and indeed our existing Framework.
